«Herstory» é o termo inglês cunhado pelo feminismo para designar a teorização e a documentação da experiência, da vida e da linguagem das mulheres. O uso irónico do termo em língua inglesa surge com a tomada de consciência do desajustamento entre a linguagem e a realidade a que esta se refere, nomeadamente no que diz respeito à omissão verificada relativamente ao papel desempenhado pelas mulheres como agentes sociais na História. O termo pretende, ainda, chamar a atenção para a censura existente na própria linguagem patriarcal ao evidenciar o uso do masculino como genérico – «His-story». Neste laboratório pretendemos contribuir para dar às mulheres um lugar na História e, por outro, devolver a História às mulheres.
"Herstory" is the English term coined by feminism to designate the theorization and documentation of women's experience, life and language. The ironic use of the term in English arises from an awareness of the mismatch between language and the reality to which it refers, namely with regard to the omission of the role played by women as social agents in history. The term also intends to call attention to the censorship existing in the patriarchal language itself by highlighting the use of the masculine as generic - "His-story". In this laboratory we intend to contribute to give women a place in History and, on the other hand, to give History back to women.
